How to install fonts
A step by step guide
Have you found a really cool font available on the Net for downloading? Did you download it, discover it was in ZIP format, and had no idea where to go from there? This tutorial will help you install fonts from ZIP archives. This tutorial assumes you are using PowerArchiver, a freeware tool that does exactly the same job as Winzip but is FREEWARE. If you don't have it, you can download your copy from http://www.powerarchiver.com/.
1. First, you need to download and install PowerArchiver.
2. After installing PowerArchiver, open the Control Panel by going to Start, then Settings, then Control Panel:
3. Next, double click on the Fonts icon in the Control Panel.
4. Now, double click on the ZIP file with the font in it.
5. PowerArchiver will open, and it will show the contents of the ZIP package. With fonts, there will usually be two files. One will a .ttf extension - that is the font itself. The other will say something like "readme.txt", and it will describe the font's copyright status or ordering information for other fonts.
6. Drag and drop the file with the .ttf extension into the Fonts window you had opened before. In a moment, that window will refresh, showing you the new font you dragged in.
That's all there is to it! Now, the font you downloaded will be available for you to use.
