Movie: Matrix Reloaded
Matrix Reloaded is the much awaited sequel to Matrix. All the great stunts from the first movie are back but where did the story go?
Rating: 3.5 / 5.0

Seriously though, Matrix Reloaded is an enjoyable action packed flick. The problem with this movie is that the cerebral content seems to have dropped off a bit, opting instead to fill up with annoying and pointless scenes of kissing and naked people.
I have to warn you that there are some spoilers, so skip this item, if you haven't seen the movie. The movie starts off with an amazing action sequence featuring Trinity entering a high security building and getting killed when she attempts to escape. Neo wakes up and realizes that this was only a dream. For the next half hour we are introduced to Zion, Zion's disco club, some new cast members and a new mission for Neo. Neo meets the Oracle who tells him to find 'The Source'. This is followed by the mind blowing multi 'Smith' scene. The rest of the movie is filled with numerous action sequences as Neo attempts to find 'The Source'. The final ten minutes of the movie cause a major twist in the plot.
The CGI and VFX look extremely good. The Smith scene tended to bring out glaring differences between real takes and the computer graphics. The sound effects and music were as good, if not better than the first movie.
I also noticed how similar in structure the first and second movie are. The first movie has a rave club scene, just like the second one.. except they are wearing totally weird attire (and why would one be dancing the day before their world might probably be destroyed?). The final action scene in the first movie involved rescuing Morpheus from a high security building. The second movie had the same idea rehashed to include 'The Source'.
Now, the most puzzling scene in the movie involved Persephone. While it looked pretty stupid to have the kissing scene compared to the rest of the movie, I think there is more to it which will be revealed in Revolutions. The Architect reveals that he is the father of the matrix, but there also exists a mother. Perhaps Persephone is also one of the creators of the Matrix and hence her fascination for the human kind.
After watching the movie, my initial conclusion was that Zion itself was a matrix ala Matrix-In-Matrix theory. How else could one explain the dream sequences and Neo stopping the sentinels? Unfortunately, as good as it sounds, this theory can cause a lot of headaches with just one movie left to wrap up the whole issue. Also, since it is the most likeliest explanation.. it probably isn't!
Now, the other theory is that Smith is the real rogue. Unlike the rest of the programs in the matrix, Smith might bring the Matrix to a halt due to his virus like behaviour. Smith suggests that Neo had caused a change in his code which made him remain in the Matrix. Perhaps Neo can make use of Smith's virus like ability and introduce a code to wake up all the people from the Matrix, thus causing the Revolution.
Theories will now abound the Internet and until the release of Matrix Revolutions later this year, speculation will control all our minds!
