ELWHA EAST
The two drawings below are drawing made by Nicholas Hopper to show a general idea of what is located on the Elwha East side of Angeles Point.
Very little information has been located on this area. As we obtain more information it will be posted here.
On September 10, 2001, Military Equipment Collector (M.E.C.) members Nicholas Hopper and Jake Fish took a quick hike through the area to see where everything was. Jake had been through the area before and made Nicholas aware of what he had found. It had been about a year since Jake had last been there so it took some time to find the 155MM/gernade shelter since a few trees had fallen over it.

There are a few things that we are not sure of. First off, what is the shelter located to the east of the East Elwha FC? The concrete walls extend apprx 3 feet up and a wooden roof had collapsed down on it. In the front corner metal ladder rungs are mounted in it like this was some type of tower. Could this be a search light tower? Or were any located here? A far as we could tell there was no concrete floor, but since there was so much moss and rotten wood, we couldn't really tell.
Another interesting thing was back past the cut out in the ground we came across old roads, gravel roads that had been put in many, many years ago. Walking along it, we came to an intersection, we took a left and walked a distance to another 4 way intersection. It was odd to see such straight roads with intersections clear back in the middle of the forest. Figure it was from the military way back then.
So we are looking for information on the Elwha East location. Please email Nicholas Hopper directly at mec1945@webband.com with any information.

Note in picture one and two, there are metal rungs in the northeast corner of the structure. Could this be some type of tower? Please, help us identify this structure! |

Laying about 20-30 feet behind the Base End station were a few rolls of wire. They looked like they had been lying there for a long time. May have been in a case at one time? |
