Martial Thought
This a new section to our newsletter. It will contain thought-provoking quotes,
comments, opinions, or statements. However, I would like everyone's help to
shape, mold, and develop this section whether you would like to submit a quote,
comment, opinion, or maybe you would like to suggest a different name for this
section. Whatever your thoughts or comments please e-mail me at
sensei@kyoshindojo.org.
Here is our first quote to get us started:
Go to the pines if you want to
learn about the pine, or to the bamboo if you want to learn about the bamboo.
And in doing so, you must leave your subjective preoccupation with yourself.
Otherwise you impose yourself on the object and do not learn.
Matsuo Basho
17th century
