Seminar in Texas

by Philip Scudieri Sensei

KIAI instructor Richard Ray, Ellis County Martial Arts hosted KIAI President Phil Scudieri Sensei and Kyoshi Celinda Ellsworth for a seminar in Kenjutsu at his dojo in Ennis Texas. After running through basicc postures and cuts we began to work on a two person form called Dai Kumitachi.

The theme of the seminar was: hyoshi (timing) maai (distance) and kokyu (breathing) during extended kumitachi. These are very important elements in order to capture the mental tension and dynamics at each point of the kumitachi.

The training was intense and had to be very focused due to the nature and speed of the waza (techniques)

A reception was held at  Ray Sensei's home afterwards where I always enjoy seeing good friends and excellent students again.
