Connecticut Budokan moves into New Dojo, comes full circle.
The Ct Budokan has moved into a larger and much nicer facility as of the beginning of Nov. 2008.
According to KIAI member David Ciemniewski “this building will better help service the community by not only allowing to add more room for our ken and karate programs but to bring in Kyudo(Zen archery) and Taikoza, a Taiko(drum) group from New York”.
Interestingly enough, however, the door of this new dojo is just a few short steps away from the door of the first dojo Mr. Ciemniewski trained in under Dennis Scudieri 20 years ago. Dennis now deceased, was the brother of Philip Scudieri, current President of KIAI.
Best wishes to all the members of the Connecticut Budokan!! |

Abbott Sensei has more time to teach…
...Now he has connected his Action Flex kobudo line with Century Martial Arts, the largest martial arts company in the world. Upon just returning from Japan, in a recent conversation with the KIAI member and Black Belt Hall of Fame Instructor, he mentioned he was glad to be able to spend more time on the mat. It took a while and a lot of hard work to get Action Flex rolling but he was now doing what he enjoyed most, being on the mat teaching. Abbott Sensei also mentioned it was enjoyable to be doing more traditional things now than before.
“ I believe I have within the Century team the best partners to manufacture and distribute the ActionFlex line to the world. I am excited to be part of the Century family”
Best of Luck from All of Us on your New Venture!!
Abbott Sensei will be attending as one of several instructors at the US KIAI Summit in June. |
