2nd Serbian Chanbara Cup
On Saturday 4th of November 2006 the 2nd national Sport Chanbara Cup of Sports Chanbara Association of Serbia (SCAS) was held in Smederevo. Host of this event was Igor Kesic sensei, with his MUSASHI club. Over 40 contestants participated, representing clubs from Smederevo, Pozarevac, Sabac, Petrovac and Belgrade. Three referees were running the matches: Ivica Zdravkovic, 4th Dan ISCA, Srdjan Spasic, 2nd Dan SCAS and Igor Kesic, 1st Dan SCAS. All standard Sport Chanbara disciplines were practiced, including Kihon Dosa, Choken fights, Kodachi, Tate Kodachi, Iai, Nito, Tanto and Yari. Medals to the best were given by Milan Vujasin sensei, president of Serbian Budo Council. Two GRANDCHAMPION titles were given, to Boris Junkovic from Pozarevac in male concurrence and to Ivana Ilic from Smederevo in female concurrence. They were the best in senior divisions. In Junior divisions the best was Vukasin Ilic from Smederevo. In concurrence of youngest ones the best was Nemanja Jovanovic from Pozarevac. Excellent results were also shown by Andjela Pavlovic from Petrovac. For very good results, knowledge and time in grade, Vladan Stevic from Pozarevac was also awarded 1st Dan Chanbara from SCAS. During the closing ceremony, another promotion has been made: Srdjan Spasic from Pozarevac received Menkyo Shoden in Shinbukan Kenjutsu. All teams won at least one gold medal. Next meeting of Serbian swordsmen will be in December 2006, on Sport kenjutsu and Jujutsu Cup in Sabac.
