Abdullah bin Moawiyah revolted at Kufah in 127 AH, but was defeated by Ummayad governor and fled eastwards. He occupied Jibal, Isfahan, Ray, Hamadan and Darabgerd and briefly issued anonymous coins like this one, at those mints. By late 128 AH his rebellion was over and he was captured by governor of Herat, where he had gone to seek refuge from Abu Muslim Khurasani (Leader of Shi'ite uprising in Khurasan). Upon his claim to Caliphate, the governor of Herat strongly objected to his patronymic "Ibn Moawiyah". He was executed in 129 AH by orders of Abu Muslim Khurasani.. * Extract from Al Tabri, Ibn Khuldun and Ibn Kathir. |
