The information on this page is for home users of Windows 2000 Pro (or
Windows XP ) who need a guide to tuning and tweaking their OS for home use. And how to disable all the features that are just
wasting resources on a non networked home PC. Please also note that this is just a collection of information I gathered on the net in My quest to make my system the best it could be.

 | Windows 2000 Hard Drive / Memory Tweak Guide Nothing Really to say about this link, Its a 9 page guide and a good place to start!
Introduction
Hard drive and memory tweaks are by far the most abundant type in the most recent release of Microsoft's business oriented OS. This is mainly because Windows 2000 is designed with performance in mind. This performance, however, is specifically aimed at a networking environment and as such includes many features that aren't needed unless you are running a networking server. So, in this guide, we are going to axe all of those extra processes, as well as enabling a few other tweaks to enhance performance. |
 | Windows 2000 Tweak Guide This is by the same
author of the last link Keith "Farrel" McClellan... Good stuff here
Introduction
So, you've decided to take the plunge into the vast world of Windows 2000, but you aren't sure where to start the tweaking process. Even though the operating system is superficially very similar to Win9x, when you get down into the guts of it the similarities end very quickly. Hopefully, this will be the answer to (some of) your prayers or whatnot. This is not, however, your standard tweak guide. This guide is more a menagerie than the other guides we have up about Windows 2000. All of the other Win2K tweak guides are limited by some kind of hardware focus. This guide, however, will hold anything else that doesn't have it's own guide devoted to it, or even just extra stuff that would fit in another guide but isn't big enough to justify its own update. This includes random performance tweaks, and - for the time being anyway - shell customization information. |
