The History of Phoenecia

The Dawn of the Sun Carriers

Chapter 4: Looking Outward, New Challenges
Terecian technology flourished under the new opportunities found with the Phoenecian presence.  the House of Ptah, which was populated mainly by Terecians of Outstanding Engineering merit, a few Phoenixes who sought to learn this Technology, and add improvements wherever they fould the ability to, and, as always, a few Phoenecians to handle the more difficult or hazardous operations.  The head member of the House of Ptah, unlihe the other Phoenecian Bloodlines, or Houses as they were called back then, was always a Terecian.  This had been a matter of debate when the Council first formed, but turned out to be a feasible decision, as many of the Ptah projects dealt with machinery and technology that would more actively be used by Terecians, as the more powerful Phoenecians had little to no need for such assistance in the early days.  It also turned out to be a decent decision, as Terecians, due to their short longevity, tended to make as far an advance as they could in their research and development for the sake of fellow Terecians.  The Phoenixes did not understand such a rapid pace at first, as they were accustomed to taking their time in thinking matters through over an extensive lifetime.  The Phoenecians understood, and appreciated this pace, as the advances made would soon allow a more pressing matter to be resolved.

Terecians were short-lived.  As a result, Population control had never really been a problem.  Terecian mothers could bear several children, knowing at least a few would live on to keep the race alive.  Phoenixes rarely, if ever, bore additional progeny, due to their longevity, and ability to be reborn from the ashes of their death.  This caused their number to, more or less, remain a constant.  THe War had changed that, though, and Phoenixes were gradually re-building their numbers, as were Terecians.  As a result, the Phoenecian Population was also growing.  Their increase was driven by the Terecian tendency to reproduce, and supported by the Phoenix's longevity.  For the first time, Phoenecia was beginning to become overcrowded, and the only direction to expand was outwards.
