ZOOM 505 "HOW TO"
The Basics
1.Plug the unit in: Power, or a battery go into their respective holes. Batteries are not
a good idea since an alcaline ("Heavy Duty") battery
will only last 40 minutes (or less). Get a 9V, 300mA adapter. I got mine from Canadian
Tire - Since I'm Canadian, Eh?.
2.Plug the Guitar cable into the input jack, (Right side), and use another cable to
connect to your amp CLEAN CHANNEL or High
Level input jack.
3.You can also use the system in the effects loop. On my amp I didnt like the tone, but
one of my email correspondents is using that to
good effect. He has a Marshall, I have a Fender. Your mileage may vary. I personally don't
think the 505 was designed for the effect
loop.
4.When you plug in a power adapter, the unit should flash some lights, then clear them and
show "A1" on the main LED at the centre top.
5.If no A1, then your power adapter is wrong polarity.
6.Hit a chord. You should hear a hard rock distortion tone. If you don't, check your
cables.
7.Selecting Patches: The lower right foot pedal select next patch: IE if you are on A1 it
changes to A2.
8.Previous Patch: Lower Left pedal.
Editing Patches
1.In normal mode, select the patch you want to edit with the foot pedals.
2.Hit the edit button. (Left hand side, lower button)
3.Lights flash, shows Ed then IT in the LED.
4.You can select each of the 7 patch parameters by using the foot pedals to select the
parameter you wish to edit, and the + and - keys
(Right side) to change the setting of the parameters.
