Hi, we need to have more people know about BBSes... how? Idon't know, have the web advertise it or something. A few years ago, there were about 5 BBSes in town, and each got about 25-100 calls perday, depending on the number of lines they had. Now, there's only oneleft(mine), and it gets on average 1 call per day.

Nice survey. I cliented here from alt.bbs via DejaNews.BBS's should in general be better indexed and operatorsshould do much more to get/give clients the info they needup front.Docs have always been and continue to be an issue: cost, production values and clarity, maintainance.I am personally interested in *OLD* boards. The oldest boardin my parts (incept date April 16, 1981) just went down and it won't go back up again without a major infusionof funding. Who's next in the old/about to go downpecking order? Not that OLD boards are the be-all and end-all but I'mnot crazy about discarding tried and true, robust logicin favour of stuff that doesn't work.Just as an example I've historically operated on a WANwith good replication and redundant nodes on the PSTN.This evening, the local Society of Internet Professionals'site, TCP/IP only, is down with a DNS problem. What's thegood of all the big pipes if users can't communicatesecurely with each other?Roman Kowalczuk, SYSOP, The New Stelex Sector BBSc/o General Delivery, Postal Station "A"Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5W 1A0

This is a pretty Kewl survey. I run a BBS here in Coloradocalled "Prototype BBS" I actually run a Macintosh BBS (The only one Iknow of) and it does pretty well. Over the last year or so, I have hadless and less people call.

Its a shame that BBS's have been overshadowed by theinternet, and more BBS's should be developed for 32 bit platformswithout having to multitask multiple nodes (like Wildcat, Excalibur,Worldgroup, or PCboard for example)
