Please note
- the pictures ahead that show what this bunker looks like in the present time may contain images and words that may offend you. The amount of graffiti is amazing. The reason why we have not edited this out is to show you what type of damage people have done to our history. Please help stop this damage and bring back the respect our history deserves.
Click on letters below to take you to the pictures:
. This is the entrance into the HDCP. The entrance make a turn to the left and back to the right. Just behind the entrance is the Power room. Once, a long time ago, there were two steel doors that were mounted on the hinges here at the entrance.
|
B. This is standing in the doorway looking into the Power Room. There was a 20 KVA unit and a 6.3 KVA stand by unit that was installed in here. The rectangular holes in the floor on the right of the picture, were used to run the conduit and piping throughout the bunker. Also note the conduit on the wall on the left side of the picture |
C. Standing in the hallway, looking into the heater room. (Most likely the Water Heater Room) HDCP contained a 30-gallon "Midget Heater & Specialty Co." Hot-o-Matic, hot water heater to supply hot water to the latrines. |
|
D. This room contained the GpCP4 for the observation equipment located in the room to through the doorway on the far left of the picture. |
E. Before it was bricked in, this room use to look out over the Straits of Juan DeFuca. The round concrete was the base for the M 1 DPF equipment. |
|
F. This is standing approximately where the wall use to divide the office spaces from the SCR equipment room. Centered over the 'cable trench' was the control cabinet and to the left of that was the modulator. From the modulator ran a conduit up and through the ceiling into the Radar equipment mounted on top the HDCP. |
G. This is standing in the SCR room, looking down where the office spaces use to be. There were two other walls that divided this into three rooms. If you notice in the top of the picture, you will see a black line that runs across the ceiling. This is where one of the walls use to stand. |
|
H. This is the CWS (gas proofing) and Heater Room. It contained 3 canisters for the gas proofing system and the "American Radiator", oil-burning Furnace to supply heat to the HDCP. |
I. This is looking down the hall from the latrines towards the ladder to the hatch. The doors lead to office spaces. |
|
J. This is the office spaces on the right side of the hallway. Note the 'cable trench' on the walls. |
K. This is standing in the office space looking through the wall into the latrine. The hole straight ahead leads into the CWS/Heater Room. The hole to the upper right of the picture is the other latrine off the hallway. Some of the piping is still in place and note the S.C. manhole in the floor in the walkway. |
|
L. This is at the end of the hall looking up to where the hatch to the top of the HDCP was. There is a steel sheet welded in place instead. |
