A man walks the streets in the dead of night, a lock knife in his hands. John
has debts he cannot pay, money he needs, soon. If he doesn't get it, he'll be in trouble,
that's why he's where he is, waiting for the man or woman unfortunate enough to walk past
him. He waits, not knowhing what the night holds in store.
The
Assassin, having as bad a night as John, is in another alleyway in the night-time streets
of London. Five men stand behind him, a gun pointing straight
at him, ready to fire should he do anything to anger the man behind the trigger.
The Assassin falls to the ground and into the shadows.
A moment later it is like he was never there. When one of the gang steps forward to search
for him, he receives a bullet in his chest for his trouble, and the Assassin runs. Away
from the gang, the Assassin steps into an alley to hide for a moment, work out what he is
going to do. John steps
forward, his knife to the Assassin's back...

John's attempted mugging goes away when the Assassin refuses to play along and ends
up knocking him to the floor. Rising to his feet again, John sees the gun in the
Assassin's hand. At once fascina- ted and scared, he tries to talk to him, and is pushed
out of the way as the assassin fires a hail of bullets.
As the smoke clears
from the barrels of the Assassin's gun, the bodies of two more thugs are revealed. John is
horrified, but seems rooted to the spot by the situation. The Assassin realizes the
gravity of the situation. More men will follow. As he pushes John back into the alley, the two remaining thugs appear in the street...

One of the thugs proceeds towards the alley, covered by his
comrade. Moments later, a figure emerges. The remaining thug steps forward,
assuming it is his friend. He doesn't have time to regret his mistake, as he is brought
down by the Assassin. This last piece of gristly work done, the Assassin attempts to
leave, but is brought short by John, who asks for his help.
A knock sounds on the door of the Assassin's temporary
headquarters. Michael readies himself for possible intruders, but is relieved to find only
the Assassin outside the door. Leading him in, Michael starts a debrief, shocked to note
that five men had already been sent after them. The Assassin leaves the biggest surprise
until last. He swings open
the door to reveal John standing there.

With the arrival of John to the bed & breakfast base, Michael seems to be out of his own control, almost
yelling to the Assassin. This situation seems to not faze the man in black; he speaks
calmly about John being a witness of his actions at the alleys massacre. As while
verbal war continues John is suddenly attacked for his own frustrated necessity to know
the truth, and he stops them with a bigger outcry.
Both 'operatives'
turn back their heads facing John who's asking about the purpose and nature of the place. As the Assassin remembers him about
the consequences of his intrusion, Michael starts a sudden explanation about the different
places the base is multi-dimensionally located: A room in London; a penthouse in a
skyscraper at Carillon; and a temple in Amead. John is highly confused and Michael agrees to start finally telling
him about Amead.
