Did you know that you can access any website (online or offline) right from Word 97? All you have to do is go to File->Open and in the filename area, put your URL, click Open and you're there!

There appears to be a bug in Word 97. If a Word document that incorporates forms with check boxes created or modified in Word 97, and then saved as a Word 6/Office 95 document, and then opened again in Word 97, all checked boxes become unchecked. This is a major problem for my organization because such forms are used to define requirements, and there is a mix of Office 95 and Office 97 users. The Word 6 documents created from Word 97 can be read OK by Word 6 and Office 95, but once they are read by Word 97, the box checked are destroyed.

There is a new command to save all your documents that are open at once. To see it, hold down the SHIFT key and click on file. There you'll find the Save All command. This will save a lot of time for some people.

You can put Word into full screen mode. To activate this, just click on View | Full screen. To deactivate it, just press on the full screen button again on the floating toolbar. This is realy helpful if you're just reading your document or you don't have a lot of formatting to do.
