Geneva, Switzerland, Thursday 14th August, 1997
It has been revealed exclusively that this week the world of popular music is about to experience a massive upheaval with the news, to be publicly announced tomorrow, that Michael Lewin of the up-and-coming band More Cheese Gromit has taken a turn in musical direction and will join the Spice Girls, leaving the rock-oriented student-friendly band of his youth. His former colleagues in More Cheese Gromit were aware of the move, and fellow guitarist James Earp summed up the situation as best he could:
"Mike has left More Cheese Gromit due to musical differences. He said that he felt too artistically restricted and he felt the need to pursue a diverser musical carrer. I believe he has now teamed up with the Spice Girls to form a new band Spice2 so that he can further his dreams of teeny pop stardom, he will be missed."
Spice2, an name inspired from the Spice Girls' previous recording name, includes Lewin on guitar, but a source at Virgin Records, who does not wish to be named, claims that Lewin will be "...getting down with the girls, especially in the videos..." which will supposedly "...break new taboos and shatter the stale traditions of old Britain, replacing them with the new morality of the vital new Britain of the 21st century."
Photographs of the group's line-up have already been taken. Some are far too explicit for open publication, but at least one (pictured below) is suitable for the Spice Girls' previous audience. "They're moving to a more mature market." claimed our source, but he would not hint at a suitable definition of "mature".
