Guru Radha Sridhar

Founder: Venkatesha Natya Mandir

She graduated in Arts(B.A) and Education(B.Ed) in 1959 from the then University of Mysore.  A disciple of renowned Bharathnatyam exponents Sri Keshavamurthy, Professor U. S. Krishnarao, Late Guru. Chandrabhaga Devi, Late Mr Muthaiah Pillai and Guru Dr Venkatalakshamma. She also had training in Karnatic (Vocal) under  Guru C. Channamma, Late Pallavi Chandra Singh. She was also trained in mridangam (south Indian percussion instrument) under the guidance of Sri T. A. S. Mani.

She estabilished her own Bharatnatyam dance school VENKATESHA NATYA MANDIR  in the year 1970 which is a government recognised and registered institution.  She has made very rich contribution to the Indian dance community, having trained two generations of aspiring dancers for the past thirty years through this institution she founded . The result of which are the many successful meritorious dancers who have obtained distinction in the field of Bharatnatyam both within India and abroad.

The Natya Mandir has presented several dance programmes which have won critical acclaim. Among them are

Radha has choreographed and directed a number of programmes for Doordarshan including the well known "Krishna Nee Begane Baaroo". Her dance number secured the third prize in the International competition for Documentaries held at Yugoslovia.

Radha Sridhar is an examiner in the Bangalore University for B.A. in dance and also in the K.S.E.E board. She is an active member of the Sangeetha Nritya Academy and Karnataka Nrityakala Parishath. She has also served as a governing body member for the South Central Zone center at Nagpur for a term of three years.

  6. Mar 14, 1992: Sheshadripuram College "Shikshanadatti Visharada" title.
  7. Aug  4, 1992: Mahamaya Golden Jubilee celebrations award from renowned dance couple Sri U. S Krishnarao and Late Smt Chandrabhaga Devi.
  8. Mar 28, 1993: Karnataka Sangeetha Nrithya Academy award with the title "Karnatka Kala Tilaka"
  9. Dec 12,1993: Bhagavan Bahubali Maha Mastakabhisheka Panchakalyana Prashasti.
  10. Feb 2,1994: Aryabhata Prashasti along with the title of "Natya Shantala" .
  11. Nov 1,1995: Kannada Rajyothsava Award The highest honour to be bestowed by the state government for out-standing contributions made by individuals in their respective profession.
  12. 1996: Felicitations from Meenakshi Sundaram performing arts centre, felicitations from Karnataka Nritya Kala Parishath.
  13. Dec 22,1997: "Suvarna Mahila Sri" title from MAKANIC an organisation for child welfare.
